A mailbox burns in Concow, CA during the sweep of wildfires that scorched 53,000 acres and destroyed 50 homes in Butte County, CA in July of 2008. The state of California spent over 50 million dollars and devoted over 3,000 firefighters to fighting the Butte Lightning Complex Fires which started after dry lightning strikes sparked over 2,000 fires in areas of extreme drought.
