Alumni magazines are marvelous publications to work for. They tend to profile their most interesting grads and Ghanaian economist George Ayittey fit that bill nicely. Actually, more than that, he is a truly inspirational man who has spent much of his life fighting tyranny across the world. We spent a perfect DC afternoon shooting portraits around the Lincoln Memorial.
The client had requested a long shot of the National Mall featuring our lovely reflecting pool. Unfortunately, when I got there, the pool was missing and I was greeted with this truly gnarly view. As you can see below, I did what I could and blocked the construction with the subject’s torso to get at least the Washington Monument and Capitol Building in the frame.
