I photographed New York Times conservative columnist David Brooks for GQ Turkey. Interview shots, office portraits- pretty standard. His office got some nice direct light which I bounced back on him to get the bottom image. He’s not a global commentator or anything- he said the map wallpaper was left over from the last guy to use the office, but I’ll be damned if I’m not going to use a giant map as a visual element. Nice guy, easy shoot (at least the portion where I was dealing directly with Mr. Brooks- later on, a man in the bureau screamed at me for taking photos and demanded I erase them, which was a very strange request given the setting.) The interview was pretty interesting. I wish I could read it, but it’s in Turkish.
